Review our eligibility requirements and consider the commitments you will need to make. 

Eligibility is not restricted by age, or current foster care or permanency status. We offer expanded eligibility for students who have a compromised support program (you will still need to complete the same application process).

Eligibility Requirements

  • You have experienced time in foster care;
  • You have experience kinship care;
  • Have experienced, or are currently experiencing homelessness; or 
  • Qualify for independent student status through the UM financial aid application process and whose support networks have been compromised by personal circumstances.
  • You are a current student or have been accepted to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor as a first-time freshman or transfer student.
  • You are a Michigan resident (eligible for in-state tuition), or a non-Michigan resident with a financial need.
  • You demonstrate financial need each year via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
  • You are seeking an undergraduate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full-time student status.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by U-M.
  • Agree to the guidelines and expectations for U-M students.
  • Agree to and sign the program agreement.
  • Participate in monthly campus coaching.
  • Attend required events.
