Mikaila LaClear - she/her -, BASW earned her bachelor's degree in Social Work from Hope College. Immediately following she began her career working for a non-profit in Grand Rapids. Mikaila has spent the last two years working with young adults experiencing homelessness to secure and maintain permanent housing stability. Through this work, Mikaila discovered her passion for advocacy and learned how to use her power to fight for access and improved service delivery. Mikaila really enjoys working with young people and uses lived experience to relate to folks experiencing hardship. She believes that individuals, families, and communities each have their own unique strengths and this philosophy informs the work she does. Mikaila is excited to learn about Blavin Scholars and all the wonderful resources the university has to offer. Mikaila looks forward to building strong relationships with scholars and to being a positive support person in their lives.
